Design Engineer (FT)

Cauli is a UK-based B2B climate tech startup on a mission to reshape the future of packaging. In the UK alone, our throwaway habit generates 10.7 billion items of packaging waste a year, of which less than 9% are recycled or commercially composted. We help food and beverage businesses eliminate single-use packaging worldwide by sourcing and tracking reusable packaging through our IoT and AI-driven solutions. To date we have prevented half a million pieces of single-use packaging. We are more than just a reuse system: we are here to change how food & drinks are packaged and consumed. The Role Cauli is seeking a talented, multi-disciplinary Design Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. You will be an essential part of a small but growing team that build, refine and deliver our IoT- and AI-enabled reusable packaging system, while assisting in various R&D tasks. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid of uncertainty & isn’t afraid to get stuck in. You will be supported to rapidly climb the learning curve, work towards specific outcomes with the freedom and responsibility to figure out the best way to achieve them. You will play a hugely meaningful role in shaping our product with significant sustainable impact. Here are some examples of what you could be doing: - Take ownership of designing UI screens for our mobile app; - Participate in development processes and the optimisation of the DFA of our products; - Design, refine, build and 3D print new parts for our flagship hardware; - Design, liaise and conduct user research in person with real customers; - General graphic design for product launches; - Liaise with our manufacturers and suppliers; - Take on additional tasks outside your current boundaries with help from your team and continue to expand your skills The ideal candidate: - A degree in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or relevant work experience; - 1+ year experience working in relevant field; - Experience with CAD & 3D Printing software (Fusion360, Solidworks, Bambu/Prusa slicers etc.); - Experience in UI/UX design for mobile apps & websites with graphic design software for print & digital (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite); - A passion for sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact; - Enjoys working independently and within a multi-disciplinary collaborative team; - Strong project management skills and the ability to multitask & improvise; - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Desirable experiences: - Experience in working in a fast-paced startup environment; - Experience with electronics prototyping (Raspberry Pi, Python); - Experience with assembly, prototyping, and other manual tasks e.g. drilling/screwing/gluing etc. - Experience with UKCA/ product compliance and document production - Experience with setting up supply chain and inventory management - Experience with scaling up production - Familiarity with design thinking and processes ## **What you will get:** - An opportunity to work in a tech-for-good company where your role creates a real impact; - £30-35k per annum, depending on experience; - 30 days holiday per year (incl. The Role Cauli is seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our team on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. You will be an essential part of a small but growing team that define, build and deliver our services. You'll be at the forefront of our expansion efforts, engaging with corporate customers to showcase the benefits of our reuse solutions. You will be fully supported by our co-founders and the product and ops teams to rapidly climb the learning curve, work towards specific targets with the freedom and responsibility to figure out the best way to achieve them. You will play a hugely meaningful role in shaping our revenue growth and customer relations with significant sustainable impact. There is ample room for career progression, being a founding BDR, and working directly with a co-founder with significant BD experiences. The ideal candidate: - Has a keen interest in or is eager to learn about sustainability and technology - Has a winning mindset, is target-driven and highly competitive - Has exceptional communication skills and a knack for building rapport with diverse stakeholders - Is a proactive self-starter who takes accountability for their performance, and a strong team player - A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred - Prior BD or sales experiences is preferred but not essential as we provide full training and tools to help you succeed - Fluency in written and spoken English is essential Responsibilities - Prospect new customers via cold calling, email communication, social media, face-to-face meetings and events. - Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue targets. - Actively participate in our marketing and sales strategy planning and execution. - Proactively convert inbound marketing leads into opportunities. - Effectively manage a sales pipeline. - Communicate customer feedback and requirements with product and ops teams - Work closely with account management to ensure long-term customer success - Take on additional tasks outside your current boundaries with help from your team and continue to expand your skills What you will get: - An opportunity to work in a tech-for-good company where your role creates a real impact - £28-30K base + OTE (incl. uncapped commission) per annum - 30 days holiday per year (incl.
